A 27-year-old woman from the Chinese mainland has been arrested for falsely reporting a rape after her client refused to pay a last-minute price hike following a consensual sexual encounter, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lei Chi Hou said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Xiao, turned to the police in revenge after the victim, also a resident of the mainland, blocked her on social media to avoid paying the extra money.
The victim, a middle-aged man, met Xiao at a casino in Macau on Saturday last week and agreed to pay her 1,000 yuan (1,193 patacas) for sex.
The man transferred the money to Xiao before they engaged in sex in a residential flat in Taipa. However, after having sex, Xiao suddenly demanded an additional 1,300 yuan. Although the man verbally agreed at the time, he did not transfer the money and subsequently blocked her on WeChat.
Furious at being brushed off, Xiao called the police to report that she had been raped in the flat. The Public Security Police (PSP) transferred the case to the Judiciary Police in the early hours of Sunday for a follow-up investigation.
A forensic medical examination revealed that Xiao had only a single minor bruise on her arm, which was determined not to have been caused by a sexual assault.
Furthermore, CCTV footage and messaging logs revealed that the pair had acted consensually throughout the encounter, even displaying affection towards each other as they left the flat. There were no signs of coercion, physical struggle, or sexual assault.
PJ officers established that Xiao had fabricated the rape allegation out of resentment after the victim broke his promise to pay the extra money.
Xiao has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) and faces a charge of falsely reporting a crime.
The case announced yesterday comes shortly after the Judiciary Police reported a similar incident last week. In that instance, a 35-year-old mainland woman was arrested for falsely accusing a client of rape after her attempt to blackmail him for 80,000 yuan failed when a condom slipped off during commercial sex.
