Australia-based artist Ekokaxi Wang will be presenting her interactive exhibition “Echo the Wind Wanderer” across two venues: the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) and the Lion Lobby of MGM COTAI.
The exhibition, jointly organised by the bureau and integrated resort operator, is part of the ongoing 3rd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, with an opening ceremony set for this Sunday on the museum’s third floor.
Central to the exhibition is the artist’s creation “Echo”, while the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s website noting that the exhibition serves as “an invitation to let your inner child run free”.
Open to both youngsters and adults, a statement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) on Tuesday noted that Ekokaxi’s exhibition uses clay, paper, yarn and sponge, allowing for not only exploration, but touch and interaction.
It features several highlights, among which are a giant human-shaped installation occupying a space for visitors to stroll and rest, a large-scale block creation area featuring Macau elements, the statement said.
“Here in Macau, I have created three portals into ‘parallel worlds’. In each, I have completed only half the journey; the rest awaits your discovery, your touch, and your feelings”, the artist, who has held major exhibitions in Australia, Shanghai and UK pointed out in her exhibition statement on the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) website.
Meanwhile, the bureau will also launch the “Summer Art for Families – Activity Series”, featuring highlights such as “Parent-Child Night Tour” and “Parent-Child Art Exploration Journey”, incorporating “the stories of Echo’s growth, adventures and creation of the world into guided tours and role-play activities”.
