A nine-year-old girl was rushed to the private Kiang Wu Hospital yesterday as she felt dizzy after having a shower, a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said.

The statement noted that the victim was in stable condition when she was admitted to the hospital.

Upon receiving the report at 6 p.m. yesterday, firefighters were dispatched to a flat in a residential building on Praça das Orquídeas in Fai Chi Kei district, where a carbon monoxide (CO1) reading of 306 parts-per-million (PPM) was detected in the bathroom.

According to a carbon monoxide levels chart released by the World Health Organisation (WHO), people are urged not to be exposed to a carbon monoxide reading of above 200 PPM as otherwise they would possibly develop a mild headache within two to three hours.

According to the statement, there was an LPG gas water heater in the bathroom of the flat, with no flue pipe installed, resulting in the accident.
