Former Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) president Guilherme Ung Vai Meng, who was appointed a member of the Cultural Heritage Committee in March, has handed in his resignation due to “personal reasons”, IC President Leung Hio Ming said on the sidelines of a press conference yesterday.
Ung retired from his post as IC chief in February after a seven-year term. In April, the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) revealed in a report that the bureau had hired a large number of staff on unjustified acquisition of services (AoS) contracts for many years. A disciplinary investigation has been launched into Ung’s role in the debacle which is being conducted by the Office of the Chief Executive (GCE), according to Leung.
