The General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM, commonly known as Kai Fong) announced in a statement yesterday that its subsidiary, the Kai Fong District Development Centre, will host an almost month-long event at the Iec Long Firecracker Factory site in Taipa from August 8 to 31.
According to the statement, the event, titled “Iec Long Summer Vacation”, will be co-hosted with the Women’s General Association of Macau (Fu Luen). Over 70 leisure activities aimed at families and children have been arranged, covering a wide range of areas including handicrafts, musical instruments, and sport.
At weekends, stage performances such as children’s dance, singing, and fashion shows will be arranged to make full use of both the indoor and outdoor recreational spaces at the former firecracker factory, the statement said. It added that the event aims to create an all-in-one summer experience for residents and tourists alike by combining leisure, culture, and tourism, while further revitalising the community atmosphere and driving development in the precinct.
The statement also noted that the event has partnered with ICBC (Macau) and local online platform Aomi to launch a series of exclusive consumer offers. The aim is to encourage both residents and tourists to explore the local neighbourhood, visit the venue, and discover distinctive commercial offerings in the surrounding area to boost local spending.
Residents who spend 50 patacas or more in a single transaction at any of over 100 participating outlets around the firecracker factory area can present their original receipt at the event site to exchange it for game tokens. Upon completing designated challenges, participants can redeem limited-edition commemorative gifts from the area, the statement added.
