The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has launched a photography contest ahead of “World Animal Day” on October 4, with submissions open until September 11.

The contest is organised in conjunction with the “Everyone Stray Dogs Macau Volunteer Group” and The Photographic Society of Macao.

According to a statement from the bureau yesterday, entries must revolve around “the interaction between humans and animals and convey the concept of protection and love for animals”, with one photo in colour, which has never been published, awarded or under copyright restrictions, accepted per applicant.

A gift pack worth 3,000 patacas is up for grabs for the first prize winner, while those in second and third place stand to receive gift packs worth 2,000 and 1,000 patacas respectively, the statement said. Seven merit awards featuring 500 pataca shopping vouchers will also be available.

Winners will be announced via the “Macao Animal Health Control Website” of IAM and the Facebook and Instagram pages of “Pet Preparatory Class” in late September, as well as via SMS. One can find more competition and submission details and the application form on  www.iam.gov.mo/canilto.
