The two-day “9th MGM Golden Lion Summer Camp” has drawn in a record high of over 200 students aged 14 to 18 from 41 local secondary schools, the integrated resort operator said in a statement yesterday.
The camp, which was held at the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Thursday and Friday, was launched in 2012, the statement said,
The 2-day event featured team-building and experiential activities during the first day, among which were outdoor orienteering, archery tag, high-rope courses, and augmented reality (AR) combat games, while the evening campfire saw students interact with MGM management staff, who spoke about their professional journeys.
Meanwhile, the second day saw participants visit By-Health Transparent Factory’s Nutrition Explore Center to learn about nutrition science and the “innovative development of the health and wellness industry through interactive technology experiences”.
MGM Executive Vice President of Human Resources Wendy Yu (余婉瑩) was quoted by the statement as saying that the record high participation “reflects the programme’s broad community recognition but also demonstrates young people’s growing enthusiasm for diverse learning”.
Meanwhile, Chan Chan Seng from Saint Paul School said in the statement that the camp helped him build teamwork skills through orienteering and team activities, gain career insights during the factory visit, and connect with like-minded friends.
