The original interactive comedy show “The New Tale of the Peach Blossom Spring”, produced by Beijing Fun Age Entertainment Co., Ltd. (also known as Mahua FunAge or Kaixin Mahua), will officially premiere on September 11 at the theatre of the Hengqin Cultural Art Centre.
According to a statement released during Friday’s media preview event, the play boldly reimagines Tao Yuanming’s* classic “The Tale of the Peach Blossom Spring”, telling the story of a young girl who travels through time and space to meet youngsters striving to make their way in Hengqin. The show aims to let viewers finds extraordinary in the ordinary. During the 17-day performance, the theatre foyer will feature a “Peach Blossom Spring Wonderland” with attractions such as a wishing tree, AI fortune-telling, robot interactions, and a peach blossom tavern, the statement said, adding that from the moment audience members enter, they will be immersed in the world of the play and audience interaction will run throughout the entire performance.
The show’s theme song, “我不要” (“I Don’t Want”), along with its official music video, has been released simultaneously, performed by a Macau actor, the statement said, adding that the entire music video was created using AI generation technology. The statement did not reveal the name of the actor.
The production is staged under the guidance of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), and will run until September 27.
