According to a statement by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) on Tuesday, the “Light & Sword: Photographic Works of General Ye Ting” exhibition opens today at Tap Seac Gallery in Praça do Tap Siac, featuring nearly 300 historical images documenting the life and military career of General Ye Ting (1898-1946).
Organised by the bureau, presented by the Macao Museum and co-organised by the Research Association of Yeting, the exhibition commemorates the 130th anniversary of Ye Ting’s birth, the statement said.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: “A Glimpse of his Life”, “Photography on the Battlefield” and “Years in Macao”, the statement noted, adding that the displays cover different periods of Ye Ting’s life, including his involvement in the Northern Expedition (1926-1928), Nanchang Uprising (1927), Guangzhou Uprising (1927) and the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-1945).
Ye, one of the founders of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and commander of the New Fourth Army, had a strong interest in photography and left numerous battlefield documentary images, according to the statement.
The exhibition also highlights his involvement in supporting the anti-Japanese resistance in Macau and his contributions to the national liberation and rejuvenation efforts.
With free admission, the exhibition runs until October 31 at Tap Seac Gallery, which is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., including public holidays. Further information is available from the Macao Museum on 2835 7911 during office hours.
