The MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay officially opened yesterday, featuring 298 ocean-view rooms and suites, integrated resort operator MGM announced in a statement.
The hotel, a project developed by MGM China subsidiary MGM Hospitality Group, is located at Prince Bay, Shekou, Nanshan District, with the statement highlighting connectivity via the Shekou Cruise Home Port.
Designed by GP Architects and LTW Designworks, the hotel uses a “waterfront garden” narrative unfolding in three acts inspired by MGM cinema, while the architecture and interiors take inspiration from the Prince Bay shoreline and its cruise-port heritage, according to the statement.
Other features include over 3,000 square metres of event space, a fitness centre, and heated swimming pool overlooking the harbour, along with five dining venues, the statement said.
The statement quoted MGM China Holdings Limited Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho Chiu King as saying: “By bringing together MGM’s century-long legacy of hospitality, international operating expertise, and distinctive cultural and entertainment DNA with Shenzhen’s spirit of openness and innovation and Prince Bay’s unique waterfront character, we hope to create an authentic local experience while establishing a premier waterfront lifestyle destination.”
Yang Lirong, chairman of Yunnan Xiangfeng Industrial Group Co., Ltd., property owner of MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay, was quoted as saying: “Together, we have created a landmark destination that combines the distinctive charm of a harbourfront setting with world-class hospitality standards, further elevating Prince Bay’s business, tourism, and cultural offerings.”
