One Central Macau in Nape unveiled yesterday its “Moonlight Garden”, a festive artistic showcase featuring works by local artists Vitorino Vong (黃子灃) and Amy Lam Hoi Leng, as part of its Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week celebrations.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional harvest celebration held on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, centred around family reunions, Moon gazing, and sharing mooncakes under the full Moon, while the National Day Golden Week is an annual seven-day national holiday in the Chinese mainland starting October 1, commemorating the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) with travel, festivities, and public celebrations.
The showcase will end on October 31 throughout the shopping mall and Waterfront Promenade, incorporating artistic installations inspired by Macau’s cultural heritage and landmarks.
The opening ceremony was held last night and attended by more than 200 guests, including Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Acting Director Cheng Wai Tong, Hong Kong actress and singer Charlene Choi Tsoek-jin, and One Central Macau Head of Asset Management Bertram Whetherall.
The Moonlight Garden features three main installations: At the mall’s Atrium, four interactive Wishing Pillars are inspired by Penha Hill, Nam Van Lake, A-Ma Temple and Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, representing wishes for love, prosperity, family and health respectively. Suspended lanterns, floating clouds and jade rabbit decorations form the surrounding setting, while visitors can activate the Wishing Pillars to create synchronised lighting effects.
On the ground floor, Moonlit Wishes allows visitors to scan a QR code and send personalised blessings, which appear on a digital screen alongside messages from other visitors. Visitors can also redeem a token for a Mid-Autumn Fortune Card dispenser.
Along the Waterfront Promenade, the Moonlight Lantern installations features illuminated lanterns carrying original acrostic poems with festive blessings and tributes to the city.
From next Monday to October 7, One Central Macau and MGM Macau will also hold Moonlit Golden Week Rewards, offering shopping privileges including rebates of up to 8.0 percent, according to a statement by One Central yesterday. The statement added that a seven-day early-bird promotion from Monday to Sunday offers rebates of up to 10 percent.
Shoppers spending 2,000 patacas or more during the promotional period can access a photo experience at the One Central Macau x Brunch Brother Korean photo booth, while purchases of 10,000 patacas or more provide a chance to enter a lucky draw for prizes including MGM Cotai accommodation packages and 999.9 fine gold bars, the statement noted.
