Local think tank Macau Development Strategy Research Centre said yesterday that it would carry out a study on local residents’ perceptions of “Macau Spirit” – a concept that has been mentioned, according to the think tank, by a number of state leaders.

The think tank yesterday organised a forum with the topic of “The Implementation of the One Country, Two Systems Principle, Promoting Macau Spirit”, at Macau Tower. The think tank has organised the annual forum since 2002 about how to facilitate Macau’s development. The theme of the one-day forum varies every year.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the forum, Chan Chi Fong, a vice-president of the think tank, noted that the “Macau Spirit” concept has been mentioned in recent years by President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Chairman Zhang Dejiang, as well as Central People Government’s Liaison Office in Macau Director Wang Zhimin. He added that his association, therefore, set the topic of this year’s forum as “Macau Spirit”.
