The four-day 18th UTM–UN Tourism Training Programme concluded on the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) Mong-Ha campus on Friday.
Organised in conjunction with UN Tourism, the event gathered industry experts, academics, and representatives from UN Tourism Member States to explore how artificial intelligence and digital marketing are reshaping destination branding and global competitiveness, according to a statement by the public university yesterday.
The statement noted that the attendees also got to examine how the city leverages technological innovation, cultural preservation, and experience design to enhance its appeal as a world-class destination. They also took part in a site visit to the Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai, guided tours of the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Macao, cultural workshops, and Macanese cuisine demonstrations, the statement said.
At the closing ceremony, UTM Rector Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan and UN Tourism Representative Orianne Derrier presented certificates to the participants. The statement noted that both urged the attendees to apply their newly gained insights within their home countries and organisations to contribute to tourism innovation and advance international cooperation.
