The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) said in a statement yesterday that it has organised an online space science quiz through November 5 to promote science education and raise young students’ interest in aerospace technology.

The “Space Dream – Reaching for the Stars” (“航天夢-問鼎蒼穹”) competition is open to local junior secondary students and schools for local children in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the statement said.

Participants can access the online platform (https://edum-2026.zccmo.top) through November 5 and answer questions on aerospace knowledge during designated periods to enter a lucky draw, the statement said, adding that students who participate more frequently will have more opportunities to enter the draw.

The results and prize collection arrangements will be announced in mid-November, the statement noted, adding that details are available in the competition regulations (https://edum-2026.zccmo.top/about).

The bureau said the competition is being held amid the historic opportunity of Hong Kong’s first payload specialist taking part in the Shenzhou-23* manned spaceflight mission, with the initiative aimed at deepening young students’ understanding of the country’s aerospace development.

The local government has also launched a special website themed “Sharing the Space Dream, Joining the Cause of Rejuvenation” (“同圓航天夢 共襄復興業”) and a “Macao Family Letter (“澳門家書”) at (https://www2.gcs.gov.mo/aerospacedream/postcard/letter?lang=zhhant), the statement said, underlining that other DSEDJ activities feature a student writing competition titled “A Letter to an Astronaut” (“給航天員的一封信”), the “Space Dream – A New Journey”(“航天夢-新征程”) painting competition and the “Heading to Space – China’s Manned Spaceflight Journey” (“航向太空-中國載人航天之旅”)touring exhibition.

*Shenzhou 23 is a Chinese crewed spaceflight launched on May 24, to conduct research and station maintenance aboard the Tiangong space station. The mission crew consists of commander Zhu Yangzhu, flight operator Zhang Zhiyuan, and payload specialist Lai Ka-ying, who made history as the first taikonaut from Hong Kong. As part of the crew’s operational objectives, Zhang is scheduled to complete a full-year stay in orbit to evaluate long-duration spaceflight effects ahead of the nation’s planned lunar missions. – Gemini
