The Public Security Police Force (PSP) have arrested three women for arranging fake employment relationships that allowed two foreign women to obtain non-resident worker (NRW) status and remain in Macau while engaging in prostitution, a PSP spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspects comprise a local female employer in her 30s, surnamed Un, and two Indonesian women in their 30s, identified as Kristina and Dede.

According to the spokesperson, officers conducting a routine patrol in the Iao Hon district at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday intercepted Kristina on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. Although she held an NRW permit as a domestic helper, she was unable to explain details regarding her purported workplace or job duties.

Under questioning, Kristina admitted that she had never worked for the employer listed on her permit. She revealed that she had arranged the fictitious employment through Dede and paid Un 30,000 patacas to obtain NRW status, while paying Dede 1,500 patacas as an intermediary fee.

Police subsequently summoned Un and Dede on Monday for questioning. Under questioning, Dede admitted to the arrangement and disclosed that she had also established a fake employment relationship with Un late last year, paying her 8,000 patacas to secure NRW status and remain in Macau.

Un also admitted to the offences, the PSP spokesperson said.

The three suspects are facing charges of fake employment. The case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further legal proceedings.

The suspects face between two and eight years behind bars, according to Macau’s immigration control law.
