The Public Security Police (PSP) moved its Coloane Police Station, which was originally in Coloane Village, to Ip Heng Building of the sprawling Seac Pai Van public housing estate yesterday.
In a speech at the station’s inauguration ceremony yesterday, PSP Commissioner Leong Man Cheong said the number of people living and working in Coloane has been rising rapidly, with the majority residing in Seac Pai Van estate.
According to Leong, 100 officers will be stationed in Seac Pai Van. The most common crimes in the district are burglaries and illegal immigration, with the number of cases up by 10 percent so far this year compared to last year, he said.
