Three employees of a supermarket in Taipa suffered from skin and eye irritation due to overexposure to ultraviolet radiation, according to a statement released by the Health Bureau (SSM) yesterday.
The statement says the three staff members forgot to turn off the UV lights installed for antiseptic purposes in a sushi production room at the supermarket, located in the Lago public housing estate in Taipa, when they went to work at about 6 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the statement, the employees realised the mistake and switched off the UV light three hours later. However, they began to feel a burning sensation and discomfort to their skin and eyes.
