The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a local man and five Vietnamese, four men and a woman, for drug trafficking and drug abuse, a PJ spokesperson said during a special conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape yesterday.

The spokesperson said that according to information provided by the Public Security Bureau in Zhuhai, a local man was smuggling drugs frequently from Zhuhai to Macau. After further investigation, the Judiciary Police identified the suspect as a 29-year-old construction worker surnamed Choi who was smuggling drugs from Zhuhai to Macau and selling them to two Vietnamese men who would then sell some of them to other drug users.

According to the spokesperson, the police received a tip-off on Monday that Choi would again be smuggling drugs from Zhuhai the following morning. At about 8 a.m. on Tuesday, the police saw Choi entering Macau via the Barrier Gate checkpoint and followed him to his flat in Areia Preta district.
