The employment of most of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) staff members who were controversially hired through acquisition of services (AoS) contracts will be ended this month, IC President Leung Hio Ming said yesterday, adding that the bureau will, however, rehire 23 of them to fulfil the bureau’s urgent staff shortages.

Leong made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the “2017 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Film Production Investment and Trade Fair” at Regency Art Hotel in Taipa. Leung attended the ceremony as a guest of honour.

Leung gave at a special press conference in April in response to a report by the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) which slammed his bureau for hiring a large number of staff on “unjustified” acquisition of services (AoS) contracts.
