Several members of the Urban Planning Council (CPU) yesterday agreed that an abandoned building at Cheoc Van Garden, a complex of villas in southern Coloane, originally earmarked for a commercial centre for residents living in the complex, be converted into a hotel.

Yesterday’s regular meeting of the council, held at the Transport Bureau (DSAT), included a discussion about the proposed legal development conditions for the plot on which the abandoned building is situated.

The legal development conditions for the plot drafted by the Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) propose that the plot, which is near Cheoc Van Beach, be used for restaurants, a clubhouse as well as for commercial purposes – a shopping centre.

This photo taken in January shows the abandoned building planned to be redeveloped into a hotel at Cheoc Van Garden in Coloane. The photo was retrieved yesterday from the website of the Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT).
