The government’s disaster relief shelter in Ilha Verde has been open since Friday for people who need a place to keep cool during the extremely hot weather, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announced on Friday.
However, by yesterday afternoon no-one had yet shown up at the heat shelter.
According to the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), 38.4°C was recorded at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal at about 1 p.m. yesterday, the highest temperature this summer in Macau. The SMG website says the highest temperature recorded between 1901 and 2016 stands at 38.9°C, which was recorded in July in 1930.
