The statement did not mention whether the couple rented or owned the flat, which is in Block Eight of the sprawling estate. The statement did not mention on which floor the couple lived.
The statement noted that the couple had recently been quarrelling over their relationship.
The statement identified the man as a 34-year-old surnamed Leung and the woman as a 30-year-old surnamed Wong. The couple and their daughter were Hong Kong citizens.
According to the statement, the woman told PJ officers that her boyfriend was previously unemployed so that he stayed in the flat and took care of their daughter before he got a job in Hong Kong recently.
The woman told the police that her boyfriend returned from Hong Kong to the flat at 4 a.m. yesterday but did not seems to be agitated at that time, the statement said.
However, the man suddenly took a cleaver and attacked his girlfriend in their bedroom at 7 a.m. after the domestic helper had left the flat, the statement said.
The woman suffered cuts from the attack and ran out of the flat, the statement said, adding that she rushed downstairs and when she arrived at the entrance of the building she saw her husband jump. The building’s doorman reported the case to the police.
According to the statement, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and her daughter were rushed to the public hospital where the girl was pronounced dead after emergency treatment. The woman, who sustained multiple cuts, was in a stable condition after treatment.
The public hospital said in a statement yesterday that the girl died due to a heavy loss of blood. Hospital doctors stitched the woman’s cuts after which her condition improved, the statement said, adding that her case has been transferred to social workers for follow-up.
The Public Security Police (PSP) and Fire Services Bureau (CB) transferred the case to the Judiciary Police for further investigation, the PJ statement said.
