The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted the No.1 typhoon signal yesterday morning and said late last night that it was considering the hoisting of the No. 3 signal.

An SMG spokeswoman told the Portuguese-language TV channel of government-owned broadcaster TDM last night the hoisting of the No. 8 signal this morning was “foreseeable.

If the No. 8 signal is hoisted, government offices, schools and many private businesses would remain closed.
