Local Portuguese lender BNU announced in a statement yesterday the launch of a loan programme to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individuals affected by Super Typhoon Halo which hammered Macau last week.

According to the statement, the bank will support SMEs through several types of loans for different purposes such as operating cash flow, equipment purchase and shop decoration expenses, with a preferential interest rate and up to 30 months grace period for principal repayment.

The statement said the aim of the programme was to “reduce the operating pressure of the affected enterprises and help businesses get back on track again.”

The statement pointed out that the programme also covers businesses affected by the typhoon that already have applied for financial
assistance from the government.

BNU will also offer two types of loans with a preferential rate to support individuals so that they can rebuild their homes and replace
their typhoon-damaged cars, including personal loans for the decoration of residential units and replacement of furniture, as well as
car loans.

The programme will be available from today at all BNU branches. Hotline: 2833 5533
