The Judiciary Police (PJ) and the Macau Customs Service yesterday jointly busted a gang smuggling illegal immigrants into the city and arrested a 55-year-old local man, a suspected “snakehead” and five illegal immigrants from the mainland, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said yesterday.
According to Lei, the police believe that the gang had been operating for at least three months – smuggling illegal immigrants by landing at the former temporary ferry terminal in Pac On in Taipa.
The Taipa Ferry Terminal next to the temporary ferry terminal came into operation in June. The temporary terminal is slated to be demolished.
