The Macau New Chinese Youth Association (MNCYA) and nine student groups petitioned the Transport Bureau (DSAT) yesterday, urging the bureau to entitle students studying outside Macau to enjoy the government’s “Concessionary Bus Fare Scheme for Students”.

Speaking to reporters after handing their petition to a DSAT official outside the bureau, Hong Chio Iam, who chairs the association’s Tertiary Students’ Affairs Committee, pointed out that the scheme is only available for full-time students enrolled in local tertiary education institutions.

Students who are beneficiaries of the scheme enjoy a bus fare of just one pataca per trip.
