The government launches a 45-day public consultation today on proposed amendments to the Labour Relations Law, which proposes three to five days paid paternity leave and 14 unpaid days in addition to the current 56 days paid maternity leave in the private sector.
A press conference about the public consultation was held yesterday at the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) in Areia Preta district. Four public sessions will be held up to November 8.
The current Labour Relations Law, which took effect in 2009, entitles new fathers employed in the private sector to only two days unpaid paternity leave, the public consultation document points out.
