A mainland gambler attempted to commit suicide on Monday while he was held against his will in a guestroom at a resort in Cotai, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday, adding three men have been arrested for falsely imprisoning the victim.
According to the spokesperson, the victim and the suspects are from the mainland. The victim is in his twenties while the suspects are in their thirties.
The spokesperson said a hotel in Cotai reported to the police on Monday that the victim had attempted to commit suicide in a guestroom, after which he had been rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Security guards at the hotel told the police that the suspects had left the guestroom before they arrived at the scene and were hiding in another guestroom.
