The risk of casino dealers developing a gambling disorder are set to rise and banning them from entering local casinos when off-duty would help prevent problem gambling issues from occurring, newly-appointed lawmaker and gaming industry scholar Davis Fong Ka Chio said yesterday.

Fong made the comments while speaking to reporters after attending a graduation ceremony of Sands employees who completed the company’s in-house training programme on responsible gaming.

Fong heads the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau (UM) and is also chairs the local Gaming Management Association.
