The Health Bureau (SSM) “vehemently condemned” a violent verbal and physical attack by a smoker on four anti-smoking inspectors yesterday.
According to an SSM statement, the inspectors required hospital treatment after the attack.
The incident happened in the so-called “Friends of the Areia Preta Triangular Garden” area during a routine inspection when the inspectors told a person to stop smoking in the public park. After refusing to hand his ID card to the inspectors, the assailant jostled the inspectors before he tried to escape, the statement said.
