Concerning a request by the Court of First Instance (TJB) to suspend directly-elected lawmaker Sulu Sou Ka Hou from the legislature so that he can be tried for suspected aggravated disobedience, the House Rules Committee yesterday did not discuss the alleged crime as such, Kou Hoi In, who chairs the committee, said yesterday.

Kou said that the members of the committee instead focused on discussing technical matters about the court’s request – such as the necessary procedures involved.

Kou, an indirectly-elected lawmaker, briefed reporters after a 90-minute closed-door meeting of the seven-member committee dealing with the matter.
