Planning where to take your kids on holiday next year?

With Air Asia’s new Macau-Johor Bahru direct flight, the budget airline is opening a new family holiday destination for Macau residents because it means that Legoland and Hello Kitty Town in Malaysia are just a four-hour flight away.

On landing at Johor Bahru’s Senai International Airport, hop on to the shuttle bus that stops at Legoland and Hello Kitty Town as well as Johor Premium Outlets. The trip generally takes about 30 minutes.

Legoland Hotel has Lego-themed rooms and a colourful lobby that houses the famous Lego castle and the pirate ship with a Lego playground to keep the little ones busy and Lego men everywhere.

The hotel is within walking distance of Legoland park, which has about 70 rides, slides, shows and attractions that’s not only fun for kids but also for adults.

Legoland Malaysia – the sixth Legoland in the world and the first in Asia – features Lego Technic, Lego Kingdoms, Imagination, Land of Adventure, Lego City, and Miniland.

For Hello Kitty fans, don’t miss the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town at Puteri Harbour because it’s just a 10-minute bus ride away from Legoland.

Hello Kitty Town is housed in an indoor complex that features rides, the iconic Kitty House and a café serving themed-drinks.

Besides Hello Kitty, the complex also houses Thomas Town that features rides and activities that can let children get up close and personal to Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, as well as some themed attractions from the Little Big Club characters.

Also in the area is Desaru Fruit Farm, which offers a guided tour around the 180-acre (almost 73 hectares) farm where visitors can learn about different kinds of tropical fruit and organic farming. There is also a petting zoo on the farm and visitors also have the opportunity to taste the fruit and honey grown on the farm after the tour.

For those who prefer some craft activities on the agenda, Johor Craft Complex showcases Malaysia’s handcrafts, from making traditional drums and musical instruments with goat skins and jackfruit wood to rattan crafts.

Air Asia is currently running a “Big Sale” promotion where return flight tickets from Macau to Johor Bahru including tax cost as low as 704 patacas. The direct route will officially get off the ground on November 28.
