SJM held its annual charity auction and dinner yesterday in which the gaming operator raised a total of 3.19 million patacas from bidding on Italian white truffles, wine, a SJM Theodore Racing Team signed helmet and a night’s stay – complete with a Michelin-starred meal – at Grand Lisboa Hotel, as well as a personal donation from local businessman David Chow Kam Fai.
The “SJM Michelin-starred Charity Auction and Dinner” was held at Grand Lisboa Hotel, where SJM Chairman of the Board of Directors Ambrose So Shu Fai said in a speech that the event, which is in its 11th year, stems from the gaming company’s “From Society, To Society” core value.
The four auction lots included 1 kg of Italian white truffles for which SJM Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer Angela Leong On Kei successfully bid for 1.7 million patacas. A bottle of Romanée-Conti 2002 and a bottle of Monrachet 2008 together raised 570,000 patacas, while a 5-litre bottle of Mouton Rothschild 1998 went for a hammer price of 250,000 patacas. A successful bidder offered 180,000 patacas for the helmet which belonged to Macau Grand Prix F3 driver Zhou Guanyu from the 2017 SJM Theodore Racing Team, signed by Team Principal Teddy Yip Jr. and the team’s four drivers Zhou, Maximilian Günther, Callum Ilott and Michael Schumacher’s son, Mick.
