A photography exhibition entitled “Story of Clouds” co-organised by the Macau Science Centre (MSC) and Macau Meteorological Society (MMETS) is being held at the centre’s exhibition gallery.
The exhibition’s opening ceremony was held yesterday morning at the centre in Nape co-hosted by MSC Acting President Tong Chi Kin, Vice-President Steven Lei Pui Lam and Curator Pan Sio (aka Sio Hon Pan) as well as MMETS Managing Director António Viseu and General Committee Member Michael Tang Chi Kit.
According to a statement by the centre, the exhibition features 30 photographs of the winning and shortlisted entries of last year’s “Story of Clouds Photography Competition” co-organised by the centre and the society to promote meteorological popular science education in Macau.
Through photographic work themed on clouds, the aim is to show the ever-changing beauty of the various types of clouds, while deepening the public’s understanding and appreciation of clouds, the statement pointed out.
The exhibition introduces the scientific classification of clouds and related popular science knowledge and includes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) workshops conducted in Cantonese for children between nine and 12 accompanied by parents to be held on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., guiding participants to use micro:bit and other components to build a simple weather station, so that they can learn programming and how to monitor weather changes, according to the statement.
A Cloud Making Machine experience will be held every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. outside the centre near a “heart-shaped” tree, according to the statement.
The exhibition runs until October 28 Mondays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Thursdays at Gallery 2 of the MSC’s exhibition centre in Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen.
The centre offers free admission for all galleries on tomorrow’s National Day and free admission to the first 30 local residents who watch the digital films shown at the centre’s planetarium.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the centre must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code.
