Remembering their lines, the lyrics and steps before and after school, and even during lunch breaks, local children are dedicating much of their precious spare time to practise as they play their dream role in the famous “The Sound of Music” musical.

“It’s worth it,” Angelo Rodrigues, who is 12, told The Macau Post Daily excitedly after working on the “So Long, Farewell” number at the practice session on Saturday at the Venetian in Cotai, adding, “Because it’s once in a lifetime.”

Like most of the children when they were told they had got the part, Angelo “couldn’t sleep”, while 10-year-old Matilda May Seward Griffiths was “over the moon crazy”.
