Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said yesterday that the number of units in the government’s large-scale public housing project on the plot of the abandoned La Scala luxury real-estate project in Avenida Wai Long could be lowered again.
Rosario made the remarks on the sidelines of the annual charity event “Walk for a Million” yesterday.
According to Rosario, as some citizens have expressed the view that the plot faces pollution issues due to sewage and the proximity of the city’s incineration plant, an environmental assessment for the project is being carried out. He noted that the assessment comprises four phases, adding the first-phase evaluation showed that the plot couldn’t accommodate the originally planned 8,000 units, and the planned building height would also have to be lowered.
