The government should clearly explain why it chooses asphalt or concrete whenever it plans to carry out resurfacing projects on the city’s major roads, Ron Lam U Tou, who heads local think tank Macau Synergy, said yesterday.
Lam, a current affairs commentator, made the remarks in an interview with The Macau Post Daily at his group’s office near Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. He made the remarks in response to the ongoing resurfacing project in Rua do Campo which has been criticised by some members of the public for the inconvenience it is causing.
The resurfacing of Rua do Campo started on Tuesday and is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, during which the busy thoroughfare’s 20 bus routes are being redirected, according to a government announcement late last month.
