The Public Prosecution Office (MP) said in a statement yesterday it was proper that the local authorities deported a mainlander who managed to illegally cross the Macau side of the Cotai-Hengqin checkpoint without going through immigration procedures late last month, back to the mainland.
Some commentators have wondered why the local police deported the suspect back to the mainland shortly after the case occurred.
According to the statement, the Public Prosecution Office issued the statement to clarify its handling of the case.
