Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak said yesterday that an investigative report drafted by a special commission tasked with probing whether any government entities or officials were at fault in their response to last August’s deadly Super Typhoon Hato does not mention that any government officials should be held “politically” accountable for the Hato disaster.
Wong attended a plenum in the legislature’s hemicycle which discussed a debate motion by directly-elected lawmaker Ng Kuok Cheong.
The legislature passed Ng’s debate motion in November, which asked the government whether it will tell the public which officials will be held accountable for the government’s widely criticised response to the Hato disaster.
