Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that she hadn’t spotted any immediate effect on Macau’s tourism industry due to the recent security-related incidents that have taken place in the city.

Senna Fernandes made the comment on the sidelines of an inauguration of a cultural foundation yesterday in Zape, when she was asked by a reporter if the recent security-related incidents would cast a negative effect on Macau’s image.

Last month a mainland driver drove straight through Cotai-Hengqin checkpoint without going through immigration and customs procedures, and entered restricted airport area in the city’s airport. Meanwhile last Tuesday a dealer working in a casino in Nape stole chips worth over HK$47 million at a VIP room before being arrested later that week.
