The World Cup trophy was in town yesterday and many local football fans got into a frenzy with people queuing for three hours to get hold of an entry ticket to get a close-up look at the golden trophy for the FIFA World Cup which will be fought for in Russia kicking off on June 14.

The Macau Leg of FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola was held at the Taipa Olympic Sports Centre yesterday, where about 3,000 tickets were handed out to the public for the one-day event at the stadium on a first-come first-served basis.

First in the queue was a man surnamed Wong who had been there for three hours before the event was opened to the public at 12:30 p.m. Wong told reporters that he had to swap his shift with another colleague so that he could see the trophy before heading to work.
