The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday that it will extend the period for submitting bids for 100 new common taxi licences – the owners of which are required to buy electric vehicles – until March 26, from the initial deadline on Thursday.
The bureau said the decision was to give potential bidders more time to prepare and collect information concerning the specifications of e-taxis.
The bureau announced on February 7 that the owners of 100 new common taxi licences will have to use electric vehicles (EVs) for their cabs. The bidding period for the 100 licences valid for eight years started on that day.
