Gambler robs student after bad streak: police

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a man from the mainland on Saturday for robbing a female student from the mainland in October after gambling away all his money, PJ spokeswoman Yeung Sau Chan said during a special press conference yesterday.

Yeung identified the suspect as a 33-year-old surnamed Zhang from Heilongjiang province. The victim is a 19-year-old surnamed Liu studying at a local university.

According to Yeung, the robbery occurred on the circular footbridge at Rotunda do Istmo in Cotai at 10 p.m. on October 5. The footbridge provides access to the Venetian, City of Dreams and Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).
