The police have questioned three local schoolboys who set a fire in a shopping centre in the city centre, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Yeung Sau Chan said yesterday during a regular press conference.
Yeung said that on Thursday the police received a suspected arson case from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) after some rubbish had been burnt in a shopping centre in Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira.
After checking CCTV footage, Yeung said, the police confirmed that three boys lit a fire in the mall. As the trio were burning rubbish in front of a shop, a female passer-by shouted at them. Frightened, they put out the fire and fled the scene. The owner of the shop saw the burnt rubbish and called the police.
