Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng said yesterday the government would consider including a visual corridor looking at Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge (colloquially known as “old bridge”) from the Chapel of Our Lady of Penha in its future plan for the protection and management of the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Macau.
Tam made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf on the sidelines of a Chinese New Year luncheon hosted by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) for personnel employed by the city’s social organisations.
According to an IAS statement yesterday, about 600 representatives from some 250 social organisations and IAS officials attended the lunch. Tam and senior officials from various other government entities also attended.
