The Court of Second Instance (TSI) said in a statement yesterday that it has determined that a ban of five years on a non-local theft suspect from entering Macau, imposed by the police, was too long and ordered the police to annul the ban.

The statement said that the five-year entry ban was “obviously” too long based on the severity of the suspect’s alleged crime.

According to the statement, the suspect allegedly stole a mobile phone in a casino in July 2016. However, the victim decided to not take legal action against the suspect and therefore no trial was held.
