A door frame at the entrance of the headquarters of the Macau Radio Taxi Corporation in Nape was burnt yesterday afternoon after a staff member dropped a still lit cigarette end there, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement last night.

The statement identified the smoker as a 39-year-old man surnamed Kuan. The statement did not say whether the staff member is a cabbie or works in another capacity for the company. Neither did the statement say if Kuan was arrested.

According to the statement, several staff members smelt burning at 5 p.m. yesterday. They then discovered that a door frame at the company’s entrance on the ground floor in Avenida do Governador Jaime Silvério Marques was burning. Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
