The Court of First Instance (TJB) has scheduled the restart of the trial of directly-elected lawmaker Sulu Sou Ka Hou and fellow non-establishment activist Scott Chiang Meng Hin for alleged aggravated disobedience on May 14, the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) said in a statement yesterday.

The judge of the case, Cheong Weng Tong, noted in a statement issued yesterday detailing her court’s decision to restart the trial next month that the Court of Second Instance (TSI) has rejected an interim injunction filed by Sou requesting the suspension of his peers’ decision to suspend him as a lawmaker. The judge also said that Sou had agreed to the restart of the trial of the case. Therefore, the court has rescheduled the trial date for May 14, the judge said.

In early January, Sou filed the interim injunction with the Court of Second Instance. He also filed an appeal with the Court of Second Instance over certain legal matters concerning the process and procedure of his suspension as a lawmaker in December.
