Govt suspends imports of all US romaine lettuce

All romaine lettuce from the US is off the shelves and off menus as the government has suspended all imports of romaine lettuce, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) said in a statement yesterday, after reports warned that those grown in Yuma, a city in the state of Arizona, could be linked to an E. coli outbreak there.

The IACM statement said that the bureau has immediately stopped the sale and supply of romaine lettuce and packaged salad mixes imported from the US, urging consumers not to eat them.

The statement pointed out that for the sake of prudence, the bureau has suspended all imports of romaine lettuce and packaged salad mixes that contain romaine lettuce from the US.
