Macao Water said yesterday that it has launched a smart water meter scheme, adding that it has started the installation of signal transmitters for 500 water meters, including various signal receptors, in Cotai earlier this month.

Seak Ka Seng, senior meter workshop officer at Macao Water, made the remarks while delivering a speech during a meeting of the utility’s Customer Liaison Group (CLG) at MGM Cotai.

According to Seak, there are 250,000 water meters in Macau. He said that his company still checks the city’s water meters the traditional way – its staff go to the location of each water meter to record customers’ water usage.
